Feminist Comment of the Week - 1st January 2011

Helen Mirren says:

With all due respect to you many brilliant and successful women in the room, really not too much has changed in the canon of Hollywood film-making that continues to worship at the altar of the 18 to 25-year-old male and his penis.

Quite small, I always think.

What Shakespearian wit this is! Nurse, my sides hurt.

Above: Helen Mirren. Rather decrepit, I think.

Feminist Comment of the Week - 25th December 2010

Happy Christmas to all my readers. Christmas is a time for cheer and goodwill, and I hope you all have a great day.

But, Christmas is like any other day, in that you must remember who your enemies are - because systematic abuse doesn't take a vacation.

Catherine Comins says:

To use the word [rape] carefully would be to be careful for the sake of the violator, and the survivors don't care a hoot about him ... [falsely accused men] have a lot of pain, but it is not a pain that I would necessarily have spared them.

If he hasn't actually committed rape, then how is he a 'violator'? Perhaps he made an unfriendly comment? I'm guessing that 'violation' shall refer to whatever feminists want it to in order to justify the systematic abuse of men. Right here we have not only an admission but an endorsement that women falsely accuse men of rape. This is feminism unmasked.

Feminist Comment of the Week - 17th December 2010

Jessica Valenti says:

. . . we should look to [Swedish rape laws] as a potential model for our own legislation.

In fact, some activists and legal experts in Sweden want to change the law there so that the burden of proof is on the accused; the alleged rapist would have to show that he got consent, instead of the victim having to prove that she didn't give it.

Feminist Comment of the Week - 10th December 2010

A distraught feminist. says:

So I'm wicked because I happen to be a feminist? I loved your strawman too. No, I'm not some hag that wants some inverse of the current oppressive patriarchy(it hurts men too!) I want men and women to be equal and free to be who they are instead of their roles dictated by the patriarchy.

Why do you hate women so much? Feminism is working to free us and by extension, you men. I find your attitudes saddening. You're privileges will hurt you, please stop.

No.
